The care box is an offer for people requiring care with care levels 1–5. It contains consumable care supplies (e.g., disposable gloves, disinfectant, face masks, bed pads) worth up to €42 per month, which are fully covered by the long-term care insurance fund (§ 40 SGB XI).

The provider handles the application and billing – and delivers directly to the home. The person requiring care has no administrative burden and doesn't have to shop or handle billing themselves.

Switching providers is possible at any time. The requirements are: cancellation with the current provider, submission of a new application with the desired provider, and approval of care by the long-term care insurance fund – costs are incurred only once per month.
